FAQS

?
I already have a modem; do I still need to buy one from TasmaNet?
>

No, you can bring your own! Note that the TasmaNet Service Desk team is not able to diagnose or provide support for hardware issues with non-TasmaNet supplied equipment and may refer you to the manufacturer's instructions for your modem.

?
What if my business needs 24/7 support and faster service restoration times?
>

No problem! TasmaNet offers a range of support and service restoration upgrades to suit your business requirements. Contact the TasmaNet Sales team for more information or learn more about enterprise grade support with nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet.

?
What plan speed does my business need?
>

Use these guidelines to help you select the right plan speed to meet your expectations:

  • nbn™ 50/20 Mbps speed tier plans suit 2-4 users streaming video, running multiple applications, or working from home.
  • nbn™ 100/40 Mbps speed tier plans accommodate multiple users actively online at the same time, using video conferencing, and downloading and uploading large files.
  • nbn™ 250/100 Mbps speed tier plans power cloud software solutions, high bandwidth applications, offsite backup, and large numbers of simultaneous users.
  • nbn™ Fixed Wireless Plus aims to deliver the maximum potential wholesale speed the network is capable of delivering at the time of use, however actual service speeds may be impacted by network congestion on the nbn™ Fixed Wireless network and no performance guarantee is offered.
  • nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet delivers symmetrical download/upload speeds from 10/10 Mbps to nearly 1000/1000 Mbps via a dedicated fibre connection built to your business.

Speeds can be affected by factors within our control, such as the contention ratio of the service, and factors beyond our control, such as the content being downloaded by the end-user, your distance and the quality of the copper from the node or basement for services using FTTN and FTTB nbn™ connection technology, the location of your Wi-Fi router/modem, and the number of connected devices running through your router at the same time.

Actual speeds of FTTN/C/B services will be confirmed after connection. TasmaNet will provide remedies to customers not able to achieve expected nbn™ performance, including the opportunity to move to an alternate plan or to cancel the service within the minimum term without penalty.

?
How fast can you connect me?
>

If your premises has previously been connected to the nbn™ broadband access network, standard connection takes 1-5 business days and is usually completed within the first 24 hours. New connections to the nbn™ broadband access network will require a connection appointment which is typically scheduled within 2 and 20 business days, dependent upon the availability of nbn™ technicians. We will confirm your nbn™ connection appointment after receiving your service application.

?
Is there a connection or cancellation charge?
>

No, all TasmaNet Business Basic Internet plans have a $0 connection fee and can be cancelled any time by providing 30 days notice. If you are in a new development area and not already connected to the nbn™ broadband access network, a New Development Charge may also be applied by nbn Co. Any applicable charges will be itemised at checkout before you confirm your purchase.

?
Can I still sign up for a 12 month contract?
>

TasmaNet Business Basic Internet plans have no lock-in contract and can be cancelled any time by providing 30 days notice. If a 12-month contract is more suitable for you, please contact our Sales team to discuss your requirements so we can best help you.

?
If I buy a modem from TasmaNet what options are available to me?
>

Two modem options are available for purchase at a special discount price + $15 flat rate postage to anywhere in Australia:

  1. D-Link DVA-2800 $199 (RRP $329.95) Superior dual band Wi-Fi performance with full Gigabit Interface

  2. D-Link DSL-G225 $99 (RRP $129.95) N300 Wi-Fi performance with dedicated Gigabit Ethernet WAN port

All modems purchased from TasmaNet are covered by the manufacturers' warranty.

?
If I use my own modem, does it have to be a particular brand or model?
>

No, but you are responsible for ensuring that the modem meets the required standard and is correctly configured. If your nbn™ connection technology is FTTN/B/C, your modem will need to support VDSL2+. The TasmaNet Service Desk team is not able to diagnose or provide support for hardware issues with non-TasmaNet supplied equipment and may refer you to the manufacturer's instructions for your modem.

?
What is a static IP Address?
>

A static IP address is a fixed address assigned to a device that allows other devices to easily locate and connect to the device. Businesses use Static IP addresses to provide remote access to their network for workers outside the office and to deploy file hosting on a central network server. TasmaNet Business Plus Internet plans include a static IP address as standard. A static IP address can be added as an optional upgrade to Business Basic Internet or Home Internet plans.

?
What is voice and video data prioritisation?
>

TasmaNet Business Basic Internet services can be configured with optional nbn™ Traffic Class upgrades to prioritise bandwidth for voice and video data to deliver consistent performance and user experience for businesses relying on IP telephony and video conferencing. Get in touch with the TasmaNet Sales team for more information.

?
How do I contact TasmaNet if I need support for my Business Basic Internet plan?
>

TasmaNet Business Basic Internet plans are offered with a best effort SLA and access to support during business hours. If you require service support access outside of business hours and priority service restoration SLA options, we recommend you consider upgrading to a TasmaNet Business Plus Internet plan.

Contact the 100% Australian TasmaNet Service Desk team between 8:00AM and 6:00PM (AEST) on business days by calling 1300 792 711, or email servicedesk@tasmanet.com.au outside business hours. Support requests lodged outside of business hours will be assessed on the next business day.
